Fun Times at 15 Months

Our little big toddler is 15 months and boy is he living it up! Keith and I sometimes joke that we wish we could be Sawyer. I'd say he has pretty cool parents, 4 grandparents and aunts and uncles who love him to pieces, cousins and neighbors to play with, a Mama who is a "short order cook" ready and willing to make sure he is eating healthy, gets to go to some fun places several times a week. Let's see what he's been up to shall we?

We celebrated Keith's 30th Birthday

Went to the Library one afternoon

Learning to climb

Emme teaching Sawyer

This is how we spend most afternoons

We went to the McWane Center for the first time and had a blast!!!

Sawyer and Emme LOVED the water table and they looked adorable in the blue aprons.

Discovered he loves to eat whole apples!

Go Braves!

Water fun with the cousins!

We went to the lake to my parents cabin last weekend and had a lot of fun! Sawyer got to use the new life vest that Honey got him.

Cute video of him dropping his cup and saying "Uh-oh"

  • Sawyer got two teeth this month. He has a total of 8 now and he has always gotten them two at a time.
  • He started saying outside, uh-oh, Missi (our dog), Meme, Papa, and I'm sure there are more.
  • He signs "all done" with his hands when he is full at meals.
  • Is off bottles and sadly the only thing "baby" about him is that he wears diapers. I can't believe how big he is!
  • We went to his 15 month check up today and he weighs 26 lbs 11 oz. (75%) and is 33.5 in. (97%). He had to get 2 shots :(. Dr. Smith was pleased with all of his developments and his tubes seem to be doing great.
Sawyer,

You are such a joy to your Daddy and I. You make us laugh everyday! It never gets old to hear you say "Mommy" and "Daddy". We don't remember what life was like before you. Your spirit is so sweet and you have a sensitive side. I hope it will always remain that way! My cup is overflowing and we love you more every day.

Love,

Mama

Tubes and First Haircut

We finally got the green light to get tubes for Sawyer. He has had chronic ear infections since around 8 months so we are praying this will be his saving grace. We had our consult with Dr. Wittich with Hoover ENT a few weeks ago and he said it was good that he was over 6 months when he had his first one and tubes usually helps. He can still have one but he won't have to be on oral antibiotic and can just get ear drops to clear it up. We had to be at Children's South at 5:45 for his 6:30 procedure. We left him in his PJs and headed up there and it all went very smooth. All of the riding toys and animals on the walls were a nice distraction for him. Our room was right beside the door where they take him back so they didn't have to walk too far when the nurse took him from me. It wasn't even 10 minutes later when the Doctor came and told us everything went good and he had a little clear fluid behind his ear. The nurse warned us that he could wake up cranky and wild but he was actually the opposite. He let me cuddle him and he had a dazed look on his face. We went home to eat breakfast and then he took a 4 hour nap! He woke up ready to play and was already back to himself. We got him Chick-fil-a as a treat and it definetly back fired. He was in his high chair eating his nuggets and started choking. He was panicing and turning red/purple. Keith ripped him out of the high chair and immediately turned him over and hit his back. I swear it was at least 10-15 seconds before he could breathe ok again. He was sooo upset and Keith and I were in so much shock. To top it off, when I was getting him dressed in his PJs he was squirming and he hit his head on the side table next to his chair. We were thinking what else was going to happen??? Oh yeah, we still had to put the medicated ear drops in his ears that we knew would hurt him because they cut on his ear drum. What a traumatic day to say the least!!!

The day has come for Sawyer's first haircut. Though this day should have come a long time before, I have been holding on to the few precious curls he had. It was starting to become really long in the back and over his ears so, we continued the tradition and took him to Vestavia Barbershop for his first haircut. Keith used to come here when he was little and I remember my Mom taking my brothers here too.

His first sucker was also a life saver during his hair cut.

No more curls :(
