9 Months

Sawyer turned 9 months old on January 12th. He is starting off the new year with a bang! He is pulling up on anything and everything (this includes things that are not possible to pull up on!). He is getting better at crawling and he does a little army crawl because it is easier. Maybe it's because he is sooo big! We will get to that in a minute. We had to lower his mattress again because he loves to climb on his bumpers or knock off the video monitor. When he does pull up, he will let go with his arms and stand there for a second. He thinks he can do all kinds of things that he can't yet! He is also cruising from one object to another (ex.table to couch). He loves to play with his table that he got from Honey and Papa D and even dances sometimes, it is the cutest thing! We had his 9 month appointment last week and it went great. He was only supposed to have one shot but I decided to give him the flu shot since I didn't last time. Five shots just seemed so harsh at his 6 month check up. Dr. Smith is so old school and he said to "feed the boy anything he wants". He even said that we could start whole milk but I think he is still too young for that. I have started giving him a sippy cup with water in it to get him used to it and he likes it a lot. I wasn't sure if he would know what to do with it because he doesn't hold his bottle.

Here are his stats at 9 months:

Weight: 22 lbs 15 oz.

Height: 30 1/2 in.

Diaper: Size 4

Clothes: 12-18 Months

Likes:
(Loves) his Mama! To EAT! His play table, walker, jumparoo, play kitchen, shapes and numbers cookie jar, anything that he can open and close, and his favorite thing to play with are books. He loves to turn the pages and feel the objects with his hand.

Dislikes: Pacis-he always had a love/hate realtionship with pacis but now he mostly uses it as a chew toy, changing his diaper used to be a normal/easy task but now that he is so strong, he wants to roll over and get on all fours. I feel like I am wrestling an alligator sometimes! Being held when he is going down for naps. This makes me very sad because I love holding him but now he knows what we are trying to do. Sometimes when he is really sleepy and I'm feeding him he will fall asleep and I take advantage of that time. Socks-you would think I would have learned by now to wait and put his socks on when he is getting out of the car seat. I always have a little smile on my face when I look in my rear view mirror and see two bare feet. He loves to take them off and chew on them so they are nice and soggy when I get him out.

"Wild Man" after his bath

First time to eat Japanese at Kobe. I was sure the fire would scare him to death but it didn't it. This is actually a great place to take a baby because it is louds and there are a lot of things to look at.

My Dede loves to make me laugh!

Crawling!

Pulling Up

Mom and I took the kiddos to the $1 movie last Friday to see Megamind. I was so worried about Sawyer being loud and making it miserable for others around us. Well, he was the best one! After he ate, he passed out for 1.5 hours and watched the last 10 minutes of the movie and then did a little dance during the credits! Afterall, it was only a dollar so I wouldn't have felt so bad if we had to leave. Also, it was a kids movie and there were other babies and kids there so we were in good company.

Poor baby with those chapped cheeks. :(

Happy because I'm about to eat!

His new special treat-frozen yogurt from Chick-fil-A. He literally squealed when I took the spoon out of is mouth to get more!

New Discoveries

My little boy is getting so big!! He has loved to eat since day one; or before if you want to count my pregnancy weight gain....sigh. Well, it seems lately every time we eat in front of him, he gives you this look like, "Can I have some?". One of my biggest fears is him choking on his food so I have been content with baby food. He is clearly ready for something else because he eats every 2-3 hours! I always tell my mom that she is "such a grandmother" because she is always encouraging me to give him table food. The time has come when I am having to introduce some new foods to him. I gave him some puffs a couple of months ago and he seemed confused and didn't like the texture. I let him try some again last week and he really liked them. He chewed them well and I was glad that he knew to move his mouth and not just swallow it. Next, I tried some veggie puffs that are kind of like cheese curls. I put one on his highchair tray and after a few seconds of playing with it, he used his fingers and put it in his mouth! I was so proud! Look at me, I am proud of my son because he fed himself. It's the little things when you are a mama!  At lunch today, my mom gave him a french fry and to say he loved it is an understatement. He gets this from me that's for sure. Then, tonight after he finished his dinner, I let him gum on a vanilla wafer as I held it. He was in heaven! If only he ate his veggies like this. I have to do a bite of fruit then a bite of veggie. This is a great trick that Honey taught me and it definetly works.

Future Chef?

I go order my lunch and I came back to this. My Mom gave him a straw to play with!!

Sweet Emme!

The cousins playing "Ring around the Rosey". We definetly cleared out the Zoe's in Patton Creek!

"Yes, I think I like this!"

"Let me help you with that Mama!"

On New Year's Day we went to Honey and Papa D's house to eat some good luck food and watch football. That afternoon, we were playing with Sawyer on the floor and he was getting up on all fours and was rocking back and forth. He has been doing this for a while now but he will get up for a second and then just fall on his belly. This time was different. Kenzie and Cindy were holding a toy in front of him and he crawled forward. He just did it once but I'm sure he is not far from being all over the place. He is also starting to pull up on me and he loves to stand and walk with me holding his hands. We are in trouble here in a few months!
